The shad spawn gets a lot of attention this time of year, and the reason why is that it coincides with the largemouth transitioning out of shallow to deeper water. The shad–and the bass–spawn along shorelines, and during a shad spawn the largemouth stay to feed on the shad.
Another spawn is underway here on Lake Fork. The bluegill are spawning throughout the lake and they do that in the standing timber. That’s common throughout east Texas reservoirs, as well.
Gerald Swindle, you might say, is fishing the bluegill spawn.
