Robertson “Back on track”

Matt Robertson just put his first big one of the day in the boat, a 5-pounder caught on a Carolina rig. It’s been a slow and brutal grind for the Kentucky angler. With slick calm conditions, the frustration meter is hitting a hundred, as big ones cruise all around the boat but won’t bite.

“Tomorrow, some big bags may be caught in the wind. Like magnum bags. I think I can catch 30 in the wind.”

Robertson knows he’s around the big fish. And he knows everyone else is as well. The weather will turn tomorrow, with clouds, thunderstorms and a 10- to 15- mile per hour predicted to last all day. This should make these wary bass more aggressive and lead to an all-out whackfest tomorrow. The foul weather will also help keep local anglers off the water, something the pros have been worried about with the weekend coming.

Robertson just told Larry Nixon, who is sharing this spot with him, that he caught an 8-pounder on a glidebait in practice where Nixon’s boat is sitting. During the windy day of practice. Tomorrow could be really exciting.
