Cifuentes can’t quite close the door

Joey Cifuentes seems to be coasting his way to a win today, but his day has been far from smooth sailing. He just lost another bass between 6 and 7 pounds. He’s got over 17 pounds in the boat, but could have another 25- pounds plus bag today had he put all the bites he’s had in the boat.

Even given the grind Cifuentes has been on, there hasn’t seemed to be a serious threat to this rookie collecting his first win here. Sure, Kyoya Fujita has hung around all day. But Fujita would need 28 pounds to have a shot right now. He did just catch a 4- pound, 14-ounce bass though. And he’s got a keeper under 2 pounds in his livewell. So, an 8 to 9-pound bite could still make this a nail-biter. Fujita has under an hour to pull it off before he has to head in.
