Big ones that are hard to catch

Lake Seminole boasts some of the biggest bass buried up in the heaviest cover that we’ll see all year. But these big bass can still be a little finicky, despite the heavy cover. Joey Cifuentes has had a spinning rod in his hand throughout 95% of his tournament. But we’ve seen other anglers power fish a lot this week with baitcasting combos. After several days of heavy fishing pressure though, a few of the top 10 are having to shift to spinning gear.

Kyoya Fujita has been fishing a spinning rod shallow off and on all week. But we’ve recently seen Mike Iaconelli and Derek Hudnall swap over to spinning rods to make significant culls, even in thick shallow water vegetation. It’s impressive to see these guys make the adjustments necessary to still catch these big bass, as they brave the shallow cover with light lines and smaller baits.
