We’re in the mid-morning time frame now, when several big bass have been caught on Days 1 and 2. With the weather blowing through the Columbia, South Carolina area though, we’re way ahead of schedule. Mike Iaconelli, Bryant Smith, Lee Livesay and Joseph Webster are all already knocking on the door of 20 pounds. Twelve pounds was leading on BassTrakk around this time on Day 1.
Steve Kennedy started the day back in 33rd, about 10 pounds back of the lead. This swimbait lover poses the greatest threat of charging from the back of the pack with a 30-pound bag, which is more than possible here, especially given the conditions today. Kennedy has 15-10 in the boat and has climbed to 12th. Expect fireworks out of Kennedy or someone down the list today, and a challenger to arise for not only the Day 3 lead, but also for Matt Robertson’s VMC Monster Bag of 25-8 caught on Day 1.
