AOY implications

Today has been a fun little game of Boggle at the top of the Progressive Angler of the Year race. Kyle Welcher sat on top at the start of the AFTCO Bassmaster Elite at Lake St. Clair. But after a tough morning, Welcher was quickly overtaken by Brandon Cobb. Cobb was on an all-out AOY sprint through the first five Elites, until he hit a massive speed bump at the sixth event on Sabine, finishing that tournament in 91st.

Cobb currently sits in 16th on BassTrakk, with Welcher lagging in 66th and sitting in 2nd in AOY based on the unofficial leaderboard here on Day 1. Will Davis Jr moved from 6th in AOY at the start of the day all the way into 2nd at one point, as he took the unofficial lead of this event early this morning. Davis has shuffled down to 19th now, and 3rd in the AOY standings.

As it sits at this very moment, Tyler Rivet is tied with Davis for 3rd in AOY (37th today), John Cox is in 5th (65 today) and Drew Cook sits in 6th (41st today).
