What have we been up to?

It’s that time of the year where we are all over the place with sponsor stuff and family activities. That’s kind of what the Lowen family has been up to since the season ended.

We started out by staying up in New York for a little while to kind of decompress from the Bassmaster Elite Series season. We fished on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River a lot. We camped and spent some time together as a family, and I started testing some new products for the next year. That time helped me to turn off the 2023 season and go back home completely focused on what’s ahead.

We left there and did some filming in Illinois with Humminbird and Minn Kota. We did some features on our Mega 360, Ultrex Quest, Raptors and Mega Live and some other social media clips that they can use. Working with sponsors is something I really enjoy. They’ve stood behind me and my family for a long time, and I love being able to work with them to help promote the companies and products.

After we got home, we packed up and headed to North Dakota to go duck hunting. North Dakota is a waterfowl hunters paradise.

We had a few good days, and Fischer got his first Banded Duck, a Drake green wing teal. Next time we go, I will be better prepared with all my Drake waterfowl gear and will definitely be towing my Xpress Waterfowl boat. We saw temps go from 70s to 20s, and it snowed. If you’re planning on going, make sure to have the gear for all weather conditions.

While we were there, we got to shoot the new Boss WarChief Ammo. Boss makes some of the best nontoxic shells in the business, but with this new WarChief line, they have added a biodegradable shot cup that will help keep our waterways cleaner as well. I work with Yamaha Rightwaters doing river cleanup trips, and one of the most frequent things I come across are plastic shot cups. These new Boss WarChief shells will help a lot.

We’re back at home now, but that doesn’t mean we’ve slowed down at all. We traveled to Alabama for Wes and Riley Logan’s wedding reception and had a good time there. We visited Matt and Candy Herren for a night while we were there, and then we headed home.

I’ve decided to fish Division Three of the Bassmaster Opens in 2024 to try and keep myself in more of a rhythm, and I really enjoy fishing in the fall too.

The season is going to be busy, so I’m preparing already. My Xpress and Yamaha combo for 2024 is almost finished being built, and then I’ll get started with the rigging and wrapping.

Then I’ll spend time getting myself ready to go mentally and physically for a long season.
