Yesterday Bill Lowen told us he felt really lucky to end Day 1 with 16 pounds 13 ounces, which put him in fifth place.
“The fish were bigger than I expected.”
His first two keepers today were probably more in line with those expectations. They were about 1 pound each.
“You’ve got to get five before you get six,” he said with a smile. But his third keeper today was a solid bass, in the 3-pound range. That gives him 5 pounds in the box. The most recent fish was caught in a spot he’s calling his “magic tree.” He lost a giant there yesterday.
