Word: Transition, Part II

If you read my earlier blog post, I summed up the word of the week as transition. Just like finding the pattern within a pattern that is what’s unfolding during this transitional day.

Early this morning many anglers lamented over the lack of wind, which is favored for stimulating a topwater bite. And especially so under sunny, cloudless skies. Our day on Table began that way. Now, the sky is filled with low clouds that have filtered the sun. And there is a good breeze going in the 46-degree current temperature.

During fall, and especially as late as it’s come here, it won’t take much to speed up the transition of bass from suspended deep, to roaming in shallow water. Tomorrow it might even get better, given the 80 percent chance of showers and wind chill values down to 45 degrees.

It’ll be interesting to tap into the minds of the leaders, find out if the midday transition from sun/calm to cloudy/breezy conditions kicked started the afternoon bite. I’ll be asking those questions, because I am writing what we call the “gamer” following the weigh-in. That’s the daily recap story. Check it out. We’ll see how it pans out.
