Wind-driven current

Over the many years of covering western tournaments I have picked up this trend after interviewing several of the clear front runners. For me, those are the likes of Josh Bertrand (fifth in AOY) and Brett Hite (32nd).

Wind does magic on wide open western reservoirs and here is why. It creates a wind-driven current that moves baitfish that the bass follow. Eventually, the wind concentrates the baitfish against a shoreline, which could be anything from a canyon wall to long, tapering point. Those areas create ambush points for the bass. There is nowhere else to hide and the bass go for the easy meal.

Such a scenario is setting up perfectly on this windy day on Lake Oahe. Look for the western anglers to easily figure that out. The wind-driven current factor could be huge this week.
