Jake Whitaker has unofficially taken the lead in this tournament. The 2019 Elite Series Rookie of the Year landed his biggest bass of the day – a 5-pounder – at 10:14. It gives him 19 1/2 pounds, according to BASSTrakk. The Fairview, N.C., angler finished 5th in the 2020 season opener at the St. Johns River.
