The spot where Greg Hackney is fishing this morning, the Mineral Wells section of Lake Texoma, looks a lot like the places he fished at Toledo Bend in Lousiana and Lake Wheeler in Alabama. He tends to get back into the skinny waters. In fact I had a moment this morning where I looked up and thought, “Where am I? What state am I in?” Not sure if that’s a reflection of Hackney’s chosen locations or my mind getting scrambled from working at a lot of tournaments this year. Or maybe this is what early Alzheimers feels like. Either way, Hackney appears to have a stronger mental constitution than I. He’s going long stretches between bites, but staying very patient, and methodically covering his key areas.
