When details matter

“Nobody will be able to hide.”

The anglers repeated that quote many times yesterday when interviewed about predictions for the week.

The reason, of course, is The Rez is fishing “small,” another frequent buzzword recited by the pros.

What happens when a tournament lake fishes small and there is nowhere to escape the crowds?

A lot of times a subtle modification to a lure or even using a different weight can mean the difference. Think about that. If the bass become jaded to the same lures coming past their faces then all it takes is a variation of that bait to trigger a reaction strike.

Beside lures are techniques. There will be no room for mistakes. Whoever is best at a productive technique will be a contender. Think Greg Hackney and Tommy Biffle for flipping. Ish Monroe and Dean Rojas for frog fishing.

The point is that patterns might not be as important as making precise presentations with a given lure.
