Day 2 leader Jacob Wheeler may have a secret weapon in the boat with him– chocolate chip cookies made by Plattsburgh resident Kristin Carnright. Her son Brett happens to be our camera boat driver this week. Which means we have cookies from the same batch in our boat. I feel like my performance has improved by eating them.
The Carnright family got to know Wheeler when their cousin, Ryan Latinville, fished against him in the 2011 BFL All-American, which Wheeler won. After that tournament Wheeler came up to fish with the family on Lake Champlain (that’s Wheeler and Latinville in the photo from that trip to Champlain). “He fished everyday, rain or wind,” said Brett. “He drove up in this beat up old Truck. We were joking with him the truck might not make it home. It was full of tackle. I’ve never seen so much tackle in my life. He’s been up here every year since then to fish or visit with us.”
