Meanwhile, a cool scenario is panning out between Jacob Wheeler and Dustin Connell.
Last February, Wheeler had a mechanical breakdown at the first Elite Series event on Cherokee Lake. B.A.S.S. rules allow that angler to fish from a fellow competitor’s boat if that angler consents to the request.
Connell volunteered for Wheeler to join him. The two fished from the bow of Connell’s boat, sharing information and talking like a couple of fishing buddies on a fun trip. Wheeler went on to win the tournament.
Now, it appears that Wheeler is repaying the favor. He and Connell are sharing the same area. They are fishing within a flip cast of each other.
“Hey Connell, throw over here.”
That’s what Wheeler said to him after landing a keeper. He now has a limit after only 15 minutes of fishing.
Wheeler even tossed a marker buoy and gave Connell the heads up.
What other professional sport do you see this kind of sportsmanship? I know of none other.
