What a difference a day makes

We just watched Steve Kennedy catch four bass in four drops, miles away from where he spent his day yesterday. He’s also not fishing the bank, but rather staying offshore with eyes glued on his electronics.

That surprises me. I figured he’d glue the big bait in his hand all day to look for five monsters, but maybe he needs this limit to settle his nerves. Or maybe he’s got some good ones mixed in.

The sun is breaking out and today should be the warmest of the three competiton days. Maybe he’s biding his time until the fish position “the way they’re supposed to.” He has one of the fastest boats in the field and can run from one end of the lake to the other in no time at all. With more already than he had at 1pm yesterday, he’s putting himself in contention, but it will take a big bite or three to bridge the gap to the leaders.
