Weather: the other pattern

Introducing the factor that might become a big influencer for strategies on Championship Sunday.

Wind.

Today’s forecast calls for a northeast wind switching to the east at 10-15 mph.

On a big, wide open water like Toledo Bend the wind velocity is amplified.

How that plays out is yet to be seen, although plenty of comments are coming in from the anglers. They don’t like it, for the most part.

Kevin VanDam will like the wind. That will add wind-driven current to his spot to stimulate bass activity. Plus, if there is enough it’ll reduce the number of fair-weather spectator boats around him. Yes, it’s all public water, folks, but that can create some challenges.

Here’s another factor that will be a secondary influencer for pattern adjustment.

Cloud cover.

Chris Lane probably likes that since he’s committed to a topwater bite all day long.

No matter what the best of the best are fishing today. Including THE best who is leading. Let’s all look forward in learning from these skilled anglers about how to improve our fishing under such conditions.
