For everyone fishing today, the goal is making the top 25 cut. Those that qualify will have the benefit of a weather bonus.
Reynolds Wolf of The Weather Channel just covered that scenario during the live coverage we are receiving from Hard Rock Dock on the shoreline of Grand Lake.
The Sunday forecast calls for daytime high of 68 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. With the clouds comes an approaching front and with that a falling barometer. The sum of the warmer temp and dropping barometer means the week’s best fishing.
Randy Howell knows it and he is mentally prepared to benefit from it. He told me this after Day 1.
“It could be a very dramatic finish because the best fishing will come later in the day with the warmest water temperature of the day.”
He should know. Under those conditions, Howell won the 2014 Classic on Lake Guntersville.
