Patrick Walters caught his big bass of the day so far — a 6-11 — at 12:37 to take the lead with 24-5. The 26-year-old, second-year Elite Series angler explained on Bassmaster LIVE that he’s targeting bass suspended in the abundant standing timber in Lake Fork.
“Everything is really suspended,” including the bait/shad, Walters noted.
Like Rick Clunn, who is now second with 24-0, Walters said the bite has been improving as the day goes on. At 1 p.m., six anglers have topped the 20-pound mark.
