Patrick Walters is among the Elite Series pros also fishing the Basspro.com Bassmaster Opens. While that series doesn’t count toward Bassmaster Angler of the Year points, it is noteworthy to see how consistent he’s performed during the fall run of Elite and Opens tournaments.
Walters started the run with an Opens win on Lake Hartwell in South Carolina, and he followed that up with an 11th down the road at Santee Cooper, finishing outside the cut due to a tiebreaker. He continued the roll with a respectable 22nd at Lake Chickamauga and a 10th last week at the Open on Cherokee Lake.
Add it all up and fishing smart and with confidence has much to do with him taking the BASSTrakk lead on Lake Fork.
