Since 8:30, Patrick Walters has mixed up his tactics, fishing some offshore structure and some cypress trees. Fishing a small group of trees around 10:30 a.m., Walters hooked and landed his fifth keeper of the day. Three casts later he caught his sixth bass of the day and it culls out his smallest fish. Another largemouth enters the boat, but isn’t big enough to make the team.
Walters has also caught several other species, including some stripers and a giant carp that pulled him around for several minutes before coming unhooked. A few minutes later, Walters turned his focus to two individual trees that he had found fish on in practice and caught two fish: a bass that didn’t help and a good sized keeper that upgraded his catch.
A short move to an offshore area resulted in another good keeper. Walters said he knows the bass are around the offshore areas, he just needs to figure out how to get the good ones to bite.
