Greg Vinson thought he might have hooked a striper when he felt the first head-shake from what turned out to be a 3-pound, 10-ounce spotted bass. With that fish, which gave him a 5-bass limit of 11-9, Vinson felt confident that he’ll live to fish another day on Carters Lake.
“That fish will get me to tomorrow,” Vinson said.
Overall, this tournament is like a typical Elite Series event, where consistency is rewarded. But this Classic Bracket, which changes into a one-on-one competition beginning tomorrow, puts even more emphasis on consistency. One good day does not a winner make. However, three anglers will be eliminated from the 15-man field at the end of today, and one of them won’t be Greg Vinson, thanks in part to that clinching 3-10 spotted bass.
