The 75-man field will be cut to the top 35 two-day weights at the conclusion today. With the 2016 and 2014 Elite Series events as clues, we can make a semi-educated guess about what today’s cut weight will be.
Interestingly, as good as Cayuga fished yesterday, it wasn’t as good down deeper into the standings as it was in 2016, when the Day 1 35th-place weight was 17-10. It was 16-10 yesterday, and it was 14-14 in 2014.
The 35th-place two-day weight in 2016 was 34-7. That’s 2 x 17-10 minus 1 pound (plus 3 ounces). So let’s go with that, roughly, today: 2 x 16-10 minus 1 pound (plus 4 ounces) = 32-8. To repeat: That’s a semi-educated guess.
