Tomorrow key for AOY?

Today isn’t going to be an important day in deciding the AOY race, but tomorrow could be. The top five in the AOY points standings are going to easily make today’s top 50 cut. They were 19th or higher in the two-day standings here at 1:30 p.m., according to BASSTrakk.

Entering today, the AOY top five were as follows: 1. Gerald Swindle 747, 2. Keith Combs 703, 3. Jacob Powroznik 696, 4. Randall Tharp 678, 5. Greg Hackney 673.

If the current standings hold, Powroznik would move into second, past Combs, and gain four points on Swindle. But that’s assuming BASSTrakk is accurate and nobody upgrades in the final hours today, in other words, that’s assuming a lot.

However, Saturday the field will be cut from 50 to 12 after the weigh-in. As of now, that looks to be the most important day in this tournament as far as the AOY title is concerned.
