‘They better catch them while they can’

There’s barely a ripple on Lake Ontario this morning, but that’s going to change drastically for Championship Sunday.

Big southwest winds are in the offing, and Bill Lortz of NY Northcountry Bassin Guide Service said that means the lake will be really nasty.

That means those counting on Lake Ontario will, at best, have a very difficult slog.

“They better catch them while they can today,” Lortz said as we prepared to launch. “They’ll get there in the morning but it’s going to triple their run time.

“And landing fish will he even more difficult. Maintaining bottom contact will be hard because they’ll be going up and down 6 feet.”
