Greg Hackney just filled his limit with a 2 pound bass. There was some doubt this one would make it into the boat. Hackney’s hook set pulled the fish up into a bush. It was literally hanging from a branch, flopping around like crazy. Hackney scrambled to get his Phoenix as close as possible and was able to lift the bass free. It was a dramatic moment. Once he put the fish into his livewell Hackney lifted his head and shared a big smile. “Was your heart beating hard?” Steve Bowman asked. “Oh yes,” replied Hackney. “And I earned it! Just wish it was a little bigger.”
That gets Hackney into the range of 9 pounds. In BASSTrakk that would move him into second place, jumping Gerald Swindle, but still about two pounds behind the leader Casey Ashley.
