The early bite continues to be be strong at Lake Texoma. By 8 a.m. 63 of 108 anglers had at least one bass in the boat, and Chad Morgenthaler had a limit weighing 14 pounds, which included two 3 1/2-pounders.
There have been some notable big bass caught already, including a 6 1/2-pounder by Casey Ashley, a 6-0 by Gerald Swindle, a 5-0 by Bobby Lane and a 5-0 by Kevin VanDam, all estimated weights, by the way.
If this is all fueled by shad spawning activity, there will be a lull in fish catches as the sun gets higher. But it’s not slowing down yet.
