Swindle stressing patience

Gerald Swindle knows it’s going to be difficult to keep from rushing things this afternoon in the three-hour session against Mike McClelland.

“Only three hours, man, that’s as short as my uncle’s marriage was in Mississippi,” Swindle said. “That ain’t a long time to make a lot of adjustments. You’re going to have to go to where you had one or two bites (yesterday) and try to catch a couple.”

Swindle was the first man on the scoreboard this afternoon with a 2-pound, 5-ounce bass, which was bigger than anything caught in the morning sessions. (Then McClelland topped him with a 2-7.)

“You’ve just got to be real patient,” Swindle said. “The hardest thing to do in a limited amount of time is to be patient. When that clock starts ticking your instinct is to pick stuff up and go flying down the bank. And that ain’t the deal right here.”
