Gerald Swindle would love to qualify for his 18th Bassmaster Classic this week. The 48-year-old Guntersville, Ala., resident is keeping himself in the thick of the standings early with two fish for 3 pounds, 12 ounces. The two-time Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year didn’t have a typical season for him this year, finishing 42nd in the final AOY standings. But a Classic berth would be salve to that wound.
