Swindle makes a switch

Gerald Swindle has switched from fishing offshore for smallmouth. He’s now fishing a frog along a stretch of shoreline. For largemouth.

“I’m slowly learning that when you’re struggling that you need to fish your comfort level,” he said.

Comfort equates to confidence. Swindle could use a mental lift at this point. He’s currently in 45th place, or 4 places behind Keith Combs.

“It’s how my whole season has been,” continued Swindle. “I haven’t had many tournaments this season where I go out and blast ’em.”

What got Swindle where he is now, leading AOY, is exactly what he’s doing now. Junk fishing.

“Pads, docks, weeds,” he said. “I’m going to hit it all.”
