Gerald Swindle is fishing with a different attitude today.
“I’m going to be like Elvis and do it my way,” he said, playing off the King of Rock ‘n Roll’s hit “My Way.”
Indeed he is doing that right now. Swindle has put away all of the soft plastics. He’s using a white jerkbait.
As a result, a 3-pound largemouth is in the boat.
“I’m using that and a crankbait,” he said.
That’s a stark comparison to the first two days, when Swindle struggled with a drop shot rig for offshore smallmouth.
“I thought about it a lot and it just makes sense for me to go with what got me here,” he said. “And that’s using the lures I feel the best at.”
After adding a second largemouth to the livewell he said this, with great confidence.
“We’ve got a little rythymn going on.”
