State of the grass

Yesterday I flew the drone to get an aerial gallery for Bassmaster.com. The flight plan was to capture the habitat and areas that could be in play during the tournament. “Tour target rich areas on Champlain” is the title. Check it out.

What I was hoping to find was the lake’s matted grass in offshore waters, where the summertime bass hang out. What I discovered was the grass has not matted, much less reached the submergent stage, at least in the Inland Sea region where I flew.

This photo from the gallery shows the stage of growth for some of the grass. One reason that I suspect why it’s not matted is the lower water. It’s about 4 feet low. There are other environmental factors too, but the takeaway is the guy who can find a concentrated area of flourishing grass might tap into a dependable population of bass.
