After a little lull, Hackney stuck and landed his fifth keeper of the day, moving him up to 15-6 unofficially on BassTrakk. The bass he just landed was entered as a 3-10.
Since we found him this morning, he has moved slowly and methodically down the stretch of bank he started on. As a pitches, the bait barely makes a sound as it hits the water and his Power Poles quietly ease into the water. He has also made multiple presentations to the same pieces of cover.
This stealthy approach has resulted in 5 keeper bass today and an unofficial two-day weight of 43-4, which leads the tournament at this time. Hackney now has all day to make some critical culls. His check-in time is 5 p.m.
“I’ve got a decent start, and I’ve got a long time,” Hackney said. “I’m going to fish tomorrow already, so life is good.”
