Slow and steady for Wendlandt

We’ve caught up with 2020 Bassmaster Angler of the Year Clark Wendlandt, who has caught three bass for 6 pounds, 8 ounces according to BassTrakk.

Wendlandt is fishing a main lake pocket with some riprap banks and docks with a crankbait. He said it’s been slow and steady so far.

“At the end of the day you just have to fish,” he said. “The water temp is 44 degrees. If you work your bait too fast they can’t catch it. You have to keep your bait in productive areas.”

He added around 12 pounds a day will be a solid weight for anglers throughout the week.

Wendlandt landed two non-keeper bass, one around 11:15 a.m. and the other around 11:22 a.m. He will be looking to fill out his limit before check-in.
