Rook not going quietly

Scott Rook has announced that this will be his last year of professional tournament fishing. He’d like to go out with the 2019 Bassmaster Classic. His odds looked slim after he zeroed in his first session against Fred Roumbanis.

However, Rook isn’t going quietly today. Rook caught a 4-pound, 2-ounce bass on a River2Sea Whopper Plopper on the first day, and that’s been his meal ticket today.

“They like that Plopper today,” said Rook, as he landed his third keeper.

Rook started 6 pounds, 13 ounces behind Roumbanis. But he’s cut considerably into that lead with four bass weighing 7-14, which includes a 3-2. Roumbanis has two small bass, and his lead is now only 1-11.
