Jacob Powroznik pretty much predicted the flurry of fish catches that has occurred for him and a bunch of other anglers in the past hour. Earlier this morning, Powroznik noted that 1 p.m. would be prime time, as the tide got lower. It's not quite 1:00 yet, but the bass bite has definitely picked up already, headlined by Powroznik moving to the top of the leaderboard with 15-8, according to BASSTrakk.
Another interesting note comes by way of Carl Jocumsen rising from tied for last place with zero fish to inside the top 20 with two bass weighing 8-0 pounds. Hank Cherry described the fishing conditions in practice at Chesapeake Bay this week as, "Delaware River II," in reference to the toughest tournament on the Elite Series last year. But he noted one big difference, saying, "Here you could have two fish that weigh 10 pounds."
In other words, with the bite picking up and the abundance of 3- to 5-pounders in these waters, there's likely to be a lot of movement on the leaderboard in the final hours today.
