Powroznik following his game plan

It looks more like Jacob Powroznik is starting Day 4 just like he has the previous three. By 8:30 Powroznik had four keepers weighing about 7 pounds. He’s fishing two areas off the Waccamaw River.

“I’m fishing in a little creek first thing in the morning, catching a limit on a spinnerbait,” Powroznik said yesterday. “Then I’m going to these canals, where there’s a big dug-out sand pit. It’s a perfect place for them to spawn.”

Powroznik noted how important a big bite is, and he had one yesterday – a 6-pounder – in his 15-9 bag. He weighed 9-13 on Day 1 and 12-3 on Day 2. Powroznik began the day in sixth place, 12-9 behind the leader, Brett Hite.

“(Mark) Menendez caught a 5 1/2-pounder in there (yesterday), and Cliff Prince had a 4-pounder and lost a 4-pounder,” Powroznik said. “The potential is there to catch an 18- or 19-pound bag. But there’s a lot of 2-pounders in there too. I think there’s some big ones coming though.”
