The tournament leaders with LIVE cameras all lament the slow fishing. All are waiting for something to change, namely the tide, to stir things up on the Potomac River.
Leader Jason Lucas moved off the pier where yesterday he caught 20 pounds. He’s now fishing the perimeter and focusing on a narrow stretch of vegetation bordering the shoreline. That’s where he boated a final 4-pounder late in the afternoon. He indicated he needed to expand the area in the event the pier went cold, or until it warms up with the tide.
Lucas also switched from a drop shot to a soft plastic stick bait, fished weightless, at a depth up to 8 feet. It’s a tedious process.
Everyone is anticipating the change, obviously, by their switch of areas and baits. Powroznik moved from his initial area. Powroznik wants the wind to calm so he can fish areas on the main river too turbid thus far. Ehrler can’t fish the trusty bladed jig due to so much floating filaments of vegetation that get fouled in the bait.
Soon, we should see things pick up for some.
