Luke Palmer is as excited as he’s ever been in a bass tournament, maybe as excited as he’s ever been – period. Catching a 9 1/4-pounder after what had already been an incredible day will do that to you.
“Are you kidding me!” Palmer screamed, after landing the big one. A few excited moments later, Palmer said, “I’m going to have to calm down a little.”
While BassTrakk doesn’t show him with quite this much weight, Palmer asked an observer to add up this total – 9 1/4, 7 1/2, 6, 5 1/2 and 5. That’s 33 1/4 pounds, which would be the big bag of the tournament, topping Drew Cook’s 31-13 on Day 1.
“Can we go home now?” Palmer said with a laugh. He’s been flipping cypress trees.
