Palaniuk willing to take risks

Brandon Palaniuk has two bass weighing a total of 5 1/2 pounds this morning, which has him in the top 10 early and is an improvement on his expectations after a tough practice period. Palaniuk was asked on a “Bassmaster LIVE” segment this morning, what he’d carry most from Sunday’s win on Santee Cooper Lakes.

“That big one the final day, catching it on a dropshot. I never saw that coming,” he said of the 7-pound, 12-ounce big bass of the tournament on Day 4. “That decision I made the final day to go the opposite direction and run south where I’d started Day 1, that decision-making process is what I’ll take with me forever.”

It may not be Palaniuk this week, but someone is going to make a similar decision this week in order to win on Chickamauga Lake.
