Lake Ray Roberts is 4 to 5 feet above pool, and it looks like that’s opening up more options for those Classic competitors who love fishing shallow.
I was shooting Taku Ito on the outside edge of a stump field when defending Bassmaster Angler of the Year Clark Wendlandt ran out of the back of the wood-studded picket.
What my boater and I discovered when we eased through the flooded trees to see if anyone else was back there was a little creek that went forever.
And there is plenty of water in the creek to fish. The creek itself was 5 to 7 feet deep, surrounded by 4 feet of water. Flooded trees and vegetation were everywhere.
It just looked like a place where those like Wendlandt might spend a lot of time.
