Jason Christie is fishing the shoreline of an island just a two minute ride from Green Pond Landing. He has fewer than a dozen spectator boats with him. That’s surprising — I’m pretty sure he had more than that when he came in second to Jordan Lee in 2018, and the weather is a whole lot nicer today.
We’ll always have spectator galleries because there is a contingent of fans that want to see it all up close and personal, but with the rise of Bassmaster LIVE and all of the media attention to the action as it happens, there’s less need than ever to be on the water. In fact, you may learn more by staying at home. Of course the ultimate combination is to watch it in person with LIVE running on a phone or tablet.
