Muddy, dirty, dingy or stained?

Looking at all the Facebook posts from our anglers I expected to see an absolute muddy mess on Texoma today. But after surveying close to 20 miles of it, I’ve not seen anything that qualifies as muddy water. Granted I’m a river rat from the Arkansas River. So to me muddy looks like chocolate milk mixed with fudge. There’s nothing close to that, yet. It is stained, or at least my definition of stained. It’s all in the eye of the beholder. I’m beholding that it’s not all that bad in several places. And that’s just after a couple hours on the lake.

Either way, if a guy thinks it’s muddy then that’s how he will approach this event. That’s why one of the more interesting aspects of this event will be how the guys who succeed will catch them. There will be a lot of lessons in this event. One of them might be how to describe water clarity. We do know that the lake is dropping today. And according to the Corps of Engineers it could be 3 feet lower by Sunday. That’s a definitive drop. It will help some hurt others. But again, there will be lessons to be learned on how that plays out even in a dirty or stained fishing hole.
