This post begins with the unofficial aspect of judging current weights using BASSTrakk. It’s a handy tool but only as accurate as the entries.
Even so a quick rundown of the leader board is worthwhile. The reasons are where the leaders stand in Toyota Bassmaster Angler of the Year points.
Chad Morgenthaler, the current leader, is 94th in the AOY standings. He certainly needs the lift. So does second place angler Brock Mosley (58th), third place man Steve Kennedy (45th) and Mark Menendez, fourth overall and 77th in AOY.
The biggest movers of them all are Josh Bertrand and Jacob Wheeler. He is sixth on the scoreboard and AOY runner-up to Brandon Palaniuk, who is 29th according to BASSTrakk. At the moment, Wheeler is getting a huge lift toward his goal of a win or at least Top 12 this week. Bertrand is on the bubble for qualifying for the 2018 Classic, so he too gets a much leaded lift.
