Brock Mosley caught only three smallmouth bass yesterday. But two of those brown bass figured significantly in his 4th-place 24-pound, 2-ounce five-bass limit. Mosley is thriving on a combo platter, and morning fare is green bass – largemouth.
Mosley just put another 4-pound largemouth in the livewell today. He’s got close to 16 pounds, which has him in the top 3 on the unofficial BASSTrakk leaderboard.
“I caught only three smallmouth,” Mosley noted at the Day 1 weigh-in. “But one was a 4 1/2-pounder and the other one was a 6-pounder.” To be exact, the big one weighed 6 pounds, 4 ounces.
It will be interesting to see how Mosley spends the rest of his time today. When you’re having as much fun as he is catching largemouth bass, it’s hard to change. But brown bass are where the money is on the St. Lawrence River. Mosley knows that. He finished second here in 2017.
