Mark Menendez entered this tournament ranked 15th in the Toyota Angler of the Year standings. The Paducah, Ken., pro needs to reverse a recent trend at the St. Lawrence River if he’s going to make a run at the AOY title. Menendez finished 74th here in 2018 and 91st in 2017.
Menendez is off to a good start this morning with a 12-pound, 5-ounce five-bass limit, which includes the 4-pounder pictured here and a 3 1/2-pounder.
