In a previous blog I mentioned Matt Lee’s chosen fishing areas hampered by the wind on Day 1. That wind prevented him from maintaining ideal boat control over specific areas.
This morning I noticed the front deck of Lee’s boat loaded with crankbaits tied to many of the combos. Wisely, he chose to fish the windblown areas using the coverage baits, knowing the wind eventually calm down in his favor.
It has done just that. Lee is now using drop baits, with confidence, over the areas where his bite is dialed in. We don’t know for sure, of course, but it’s likely that he’s carried over some of this experiences learned from Lake Champlain, where he finished 12th.
Watch this video to learn more about his strategy. It was just sent to me by photographer Garrick Dixon, who is following Lee. He currently holds down second place, according to BASSTrakk.
