Bill Lowen, a self-described “river rat,” didn’t sound very optimistic at the anglers’ meeting last night.
“Traditionally here, I’ve tried to fish the river,” he said. “But I’ve tried and can’t make it happen (in practice). So it looks like I’m going to go play in the crowd this week.
“That would be in Lake George, where it was predicted 75 anglers of the 110 total would be fishing today. It looks like that was a good decision for Lowen, as he has the early and unofficial lead with 23-14, followed by Randy Howell with 18-3 and Brandon Lester with 17-4.
It’s early, and the BASSTrakk leaderboard is changing by the minute, but Lowen definitely won’t be second-guessing his decision no matter what happens the rest of the day.
