Bill Lowen was one of many discouraged anglers after three days of practice at Sturgeon Bay. With a Classic berth wrapped up, Lowen was most concerned about not falling from his current 16th-place spot in the AOY standings. So Lowen is pleasantly surprised to have an 18-pound limit this morning.
"I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of zeroes (Thursday)," Lowen said. "It's just so hard to fish because of the wind. Honestly, it sucks. The first day of practice I had two bites all day. (Tuesday) I had no bites until 3 o'clock (close to tournament check-in time), then I had about 12."
The fact that Lowen has an 18-pound limit this morning is another example of why the pre-tournament predictions based on practice can be so misleading.
What hasn't been overstated is the pressure the Classic "bubble boys" are under this week.
"I would hate to be on the bubble right now," Lowen said. "I would not be able to sleep."
