The time-consuming part was just getting here. Once Lee Livesay locked down to Kerr Lake with, he estimated, about 70 other tournament boats, it took him only 30 minutes to catch his first three keepers of the day. Steve Bowman shot photos of takeoff, including Livesay, and we drove down to Kerr, launched and met Livesay as he was running down the lake.
He's fishing shallow around shoreline vegetation. Livesay's first bass was his biggest so far — about 2 1/2 pounds. The other two looked like 1 1/2-pounders.
